The artists behind 'Zootopia 2' created new worlds in the animated sequel with extensive research and a lot of discussion.

Zootopia 2 crossed the $1 billion dollar mark in just 17 days but the animated film's roaring success didn't result in a Golden Globe win.

Disney and Pixar have shown before that their biggest franchises can take such long breaks. There were six years between Frozen and Frozen 2, and nine between Inside Out and Inside Out 2, which became the highest grossing animated film overall ($1.69 billion) until being dethroned by Ne Zha 2 ($2.24 billion) last year.

"Zootopia 2" is expected to begin streaming on Disney+ around mid-March 2026, roughly three to four months after its theatrical release.

China's theatrical market was more top-heavy than ever last year, as a handful of huge blockbusters — 'Ne Zha 2' with $2.1 billion and 'Zootopia 2' at $558.3 million — dominated, while mid-tier features faced further decline.

"Zootopia 2" has scored $1.46 billion at the global box office since its late November release, becoming Disney's highest-grossing animated film in history.

Taylor Swift and Sabrina Carpenter also received nominations for their music videos for "The Fate of Ophelia" and "Tears," respectively.

"Zootopia 2" will screen for free during the International Film Festival's Family Day celebration on Sunday, Jan. 11.
